This limited edition is a bold reimagining of a Stetson icon and features a commanding profile that recalls the rugged, frontier-ready styles seen in the early days of the American West. The Boss Raw Edge takes its name and draws inspiration from one of Stetson’s original western hats, a model favored by legendary figures including Buffalo Bill Cody. In that era, the raw edges of Stetson hats were a testament to their quality as the brims held their shape and maintained a clean, unraveled edge with no need for binding or stitching.

Handcrafted in Texas from premier 10X quality felt for unbeatable softness and natural resilience, the Boss Raw Edge has a custom grizzly finish, in which the felt is brushed to achieve its heritage appearance and signature downy texture. Its shadow-casting, vintage-inspired silhouette is a direct descendant of early western hats, including the one featured in Lon Megargee’s iconic painting “The Last Drop from His Stetson,” with a formidable 7” slope crown that is creased by hand and a 4 ¼” hand-curled raw edge brim.

Like many western hats in the 19th-century, the Boss Raw Edge is styled with a grosgrain band. A JBS branding iron hat pin nods to our founder John B. Stetson, whose trailblazing legacy continues to live on in everything we make. A handsewn premium roan leather sweatband and gold deluxe embroidered satin liner provide an all-day, secure, comfortable fit. Includes a STETSON premier hat box.

THE STETSON STANDARD

Since 1865

True Heritage

Our story begins in the 1860s, when John B. Stetson was prospecting for gold in the Colorado Rockies and, struck by a sudden rainstorm, quickly fashioned a felt hat for protection. The modern cowboy hat was born, and more than a century and a half later, John B.’s pioneering legacy and commitment to quality live on in everything we make.
