Crafted by hand in the U.S.A., the Open Road Limited Edition Straw Hat features a unique two-tone design. Woven from high-quality 100% shantung straw in a rich pecan shade, it has contrasting ivory-colored detailing woven into its vented crown. With its western-style crown and 2 ¾” brim, the Open Road Limited Edition Straw Hat easily transitions from country to city—and looks equally sharp on a woman or a man.
Introduced in 1937, the Open Road was originally sold with an open crown, which could then be creased to the customer’s liking. Since 1948, it has been finished with a traditional, hand-pressed cattleman crease, and has been worn by modern pioneers and trailblazers ever since, from artists and outlaws to Presidents (including, most notably, LBJ, who was rarely photographed on his Texas ranch without his Open Road).
The Open Road Straw Hat features a genuine leather sweatband and a vented 4 ¼” cattleman crown outfitted with an ivory grosgrain hat band and branding iron hat pin bearing the initials “JBS”, a nod to our founder, John B. Stetson, whose pioneering legacy lives on in every hat we sell.
