Handcrafted in the U.S.A., the Pure Open Road is made with luxurious 100% pure beaver fur felt for unbeatable softness and natural resilience. With only a handful in production, the Pure Open Road is an investment piece that turns any evening into a special occasion. With its western-style crown and 2 ¾” bound-edge brim, the Pure Open Road easily transitions from country to city, and looks equally sharp on a woman or a man.
Introduced in 1937, the Open Road was originally sold with an open crown, which could then be creased to the customer’s liking. Since 1948, it has been finished with a traditional, hand-pressed cattleman crease, and has been worn by modern pioneers and trailblazers ever since, from artists and outlaws to Presidents (including, most notably, LBJ, who was rarely photographed on his Texas ranch without his Open Road).
The Pure Open Road features a premier roan sweatband with gold lacing and a 4 ¼” crown outfitted with a grosgrain hat band and a commemorative 1865 hat pin, a nod to our over 150 years history of making the finest hats in the world.
